From listening to Canon Kearon reply to his questioners, particularly the last one, I am left wondering whether the ACC would have also denied credentials to any cleric who had blessed a same-sex union.

  2. CanaAnglican says:

Henry, no. In his post-Christian church, SSB’s are not a “big” problem. The big problem is dealing with the Evangelical, gospel-spouters such as Phil Ashey+ and ++Orombi. Will there soon be an EAC (Evangelical Anglican Communion) ? Will it continue to have awkward initials like “gafcon” ? Where will it have its headquarters?

In brief, episodes such as this one provided by Canon Kearon will not bring to an end the Anglican Communion. They simply provide evidence that it is already finished. The great commission demands that evangelical people move on.

  3. Cennydd says:

“Will there be an Evangelical Anglican Communion?” If it includes us Anglo Catholics….and it should….I’m all for it! But what’s so “awkward” about “GAFCON?” There’s nothing at all awkward about it! Where will it have its headquarters? Who cares? But if it’s that important, how about Plano, Texas, where the rebellion really started to take off? Just my two cents’ worth, of course.

  4. CanaAnglican says:

GAFCON is perhaps more inelegant than awkward. Have we made a gaff? The slang meaning of that is: “something difficult to bear”. Who are we trying to con? Is our gaff a con, or is our con a gaff? I can live with it, because I am dedicated to doing whatever it takes to remain rooted in Christian faith as delivered to us by the Holy Scripture. However, I do not see it as a gem of a name to help us reach out to the unchurched around us.
